Historic Flight Foundation wishes to thank museum and community partners, and many owners and pilots of exquisite vintage aircraft, for participating in the first ten years of Vintage Aircraft Weekend. Paine Field airport management has not renewed the Foundation’s license for the area necessary to stage this event. Consequently, there will not be a Vintage Aircraft Weekend at Paine Field this September.
HFF is pleased to announce its participation in the Felts Field Autumn Invitational, September 22-23. Vintage aircraft are invited to register for this event through this web site. Discounted hotel rooms are available to registrants. Organized in concert with the Experimental Aircraft Association, Honor Point Museum, Washington Pilots Association, and Civil Air Patrol chapters, this event will showcase many of the aircraft that in recent years have graced the tarmac of Vintage Aircraft Weekend. The event also will draw on the considerable inventory of vintage aircraft based in and around Felts Field.
Aircraft will arrive on Friday evening or Saturday morning. A “fly-out” Saturday afternoon will feature spot landing and flour bombing at Deer Park Airport. Spokane’s Honor Point Museum will host a dinner Saturday evening. Further details will be posted as they become available.
The public will be invited to tour the flight line and meet the pilots. Rides will be offered in several aircraft. Admission will be by donation. T-shirts and aviation retail will be offered.
For some, this change of venue for an autumn event will be more convenient. For others, it will add the challenge of crossing the Cascades. We sincerely hope you register to join us.
