HFF Advisory. September 26, 2019.
The forecast is challenging. Make your best, safest fly-in decisions.
We expect the cold front will reduce the number of participating aircraft. But that doesn’t mean you should stay home. Consider driving to our new facility at Felts Field, 5829 E. Rutter. Hangar briefings will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. Topics include Aviation Aspects of D-Day, the Berlin Airlift, and the Pan Am Clippers. Dinner commences at 5:30 with live music until 9. Our new heaters work very well.
Should you decide to fly, we will be ready to receive you beginning tomorrow afternoon.
Welcome to the home page of the 2019 Felts Field Autumn Invitational, September 27 through the 29th . Come visit the new Historic Flight Foundation facility at Spokane’s oldest airport.
We will begin on Friday afternoon with arrivals and tours. Discounted rooms are available at Oxford Suites. See the ‘Register Your Aircraft’ page to reserve yours. Friday is an open evening and prelude to a Saturday morning fly-out to Colfax Airport for their pancake breakfast. Our formation will return to Felts Field by 11 a.m. when aviation author and historian Mike Lavelle will present a hangar briefing on “Aviation Aspects of the D-Day Invasion.” Following lunch Addison Pemberton will brief an afternoon fly-out to Deer Park Airport for spot landing and flour bombing competitions. We will remain at Deer Park to interact with local enthusiasts. Upon return to Felts, we will enjoy an evening banquet complete with swing music from Spokane’s own Tuxedo Junction.
Flying continues on Sunday morning before pilots disperse for home.
The array of participants ranges from biplanes to fighters to bombers to float planes. Please join us at a most beautiful time of year.
